Rescue for River Runners Rescue Games
The first annual Rescue Games will be held in Sarapiqui Costa Rica Jan. 26 to Feb. 2 2013.
The concept behind this advanced training week is to allow teams of 4 to "Strut Their Stuff" and "Compete and Compare" their river rescue skills against other teams from around the world.
Each team is permitted to carry a minimal amount of equipment per person (4 caribiners, 3 pulleys, 2 prussiks, and one piece of tubular webbing) PLUS one specialized piece of equipment of their choice per team/day.
Daily competitions will consist of skills, drills and scenarios that will be judged on expertise, efficiency and expedience.
Evenings will consist of video review of the days events with expert analysis from the R3 Judging Team.
The Event winners will receive a $1000 cash prize to be donated to their registered "Rescue Organization of Choice." Currently registered organizations include:

The Higgins and Langley Awards/Foundation
The Drowning Support Network
American Heart Association (AHA)

Call for Presenters - 2013 ACA NPC
The ACA is heading to Bend, OR for the 2013 National Paddlesports Conference & SUP Summit September 27-29.
We are announcing our call for presenters for the 2013 conference and summit.
This your chance to share your expertise with your colleagues and other paddlesport enthusiasts. The ACA National Conference & SUP Summit is a unique gathering of all aspects of the paddlesport community and the ACA, whether it be education, stewardship, competition or recreation you can find it all at this event.
The ACA is seeking individuals and organizations to present high quality educational sessions that bridge a range of paddlesports topics (canoe - kayak - SUP - raft - rescue). These session can be:
- Conference Educational Session (classroom)
- Skills Courses (on water)
- Instructor Certification Courses
- Instructor Updates
- Instructor Trainer Updates

New Stewardship Coordinator
The ACA would like to welcome Greg Rolf to the full time staff as the new Stewardship Coordinator.
Originally from Saint Louis, Missouri, Greg obtained his degree in Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration with an emphasis in adventure recreation and camp administration from Western Illinois University, in Macomb.
He is excited to bring his passion for preserving the natural environment to the ACA.
