Those of you who attended the 2009 ACA National Paddlesports Conference in Fredericksburg will remember keynote speaker Valerie Fons and her many accomplishments.
Shortly after the 2009 convention, Valerie learned that she had acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and on May 6 she received a bone marrow transplant at the Cancer Care Alliance in Seattle. She is making good progress, but already the bills associated with long-distance care are beginning to mount. Funds to help Valerie through the long treatment and recovery are being raised through the National Transplant Foundation.
