For years, the ACA has been providing support to American Whitewater on the issue of boating access on the upper sections of the Chattooga River.
In the ACA's latest efforts, Executive Director Wade Blackwood flew down to Greenville, SC on October 13th to join Mark Singleton of AW in court at the latest hearing for the Chattooga Headwaters before the Honorable Judge Michelle Childs.
We will continue to keep our membership aprised of the latest on this important access issue.
After years of the ACA fighting to minimize access to public waterways for motorized boating, it is nice to see them argue for greater public access. Will this be a new trend?
ReplyDeleteOur Stewardship and Public Policy Department diligently works for appropriate access for paddlers, from flatwater to whitewater to coastlines. For more information, please contact Paul Sanford at the ACA National Office. Thanks for reading and commenting!
ReplyDeleteNoted..you are only concerned with access for ACA membership ,i.e. paddlers. 'Appropriate' access for all other river users may continue to include ACA's goal of banning 'boats with motors' from Wild and Scenic Rivers.
ReplyDeleteGlad this is clarified...
